FCP(SA) OVERVIEW:
The FCP(SA) examination comprises Part I and Part II. This qualification forms part of a process to accredit medical practitioners as specialists in Internal Medicine.
FCP(SA) PART I EXAM:
- The Part I of the FCP(SA) examination will consist of one MCQ paper of 3 hours duration.
- There will be 150 multiple choice questions in the “best of 4 options” format.
- There will be NO negative marking
- The paper will be divided into 50% pathophysiology and 50% physiology.

The pass mark for the MCQ will be determined using Cohen’s method of standard setting.
Using this method the pass mark is determined as a percentage, eg 65% of the 95th percentile
of the scores achieved by candidates sitting the examination. (see website for details) - Candidates must bring an ordinary calculator to the examination.
REQUIREMENTS:
A candidate may be admitted to Part I/Primary of the examination having a qualification to practice medicine
